Bard Foundation Application Guidelines


Health Care Commitment
Because of our role in the global health care industry, Bard is committed to improving the quality of life through health care. The Foundation primarily supports selected research, educational and capital expansion grants specifically in the fields of Urology, Oncology, Vascular and Surgical Specialties. Partnerships are developed as a result of sharing Bard's core values of quality, integrity, service and innovation. Grant proposals may be submitted in accordance with the
Application Guidelines.

Local Community Commitment
As a worldwide leader in healthcare, Bard has an impact on many communities. The Local Community Commitment seeks to benefit communities in which Bard has significant operations and employee populations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. This program improves the quality of life in our local communities by providing grants in the areas of Education, Health Care, Social Welfare and Arts and Culture. Division locationsselect appropriate projects that best reflect the needs of their local communities and the interests of their employees. Volunteer involvement on the part of employees is highly regarded since Bard values our employees' personal time and their desire to make a difference. Grant proposals may be submitted in accordance with the Application Guidelines.

Matching Gifts Program
Through the Matching Gift Program, Bard seeks to complement gifts made by active employees and directors of C. R. Bard, Inc. and financially support those organizations that are most important to them. Organizations in the following categories qualify under the Matching Gift Program: Education, Health Care, Social Welfare and Arts and Culture. In addition, the Foundation matches employee gifts to the United Way and similar federated campaigns.

Bard Foundation Application Guidelines
Grant Restrictions - The Foundation does not contribute to:

  1. Private foundations
  2. Individuals
  3. Political parties
  4. Fraternal groups
  5. Religious or sectarian groups
  6. Veterans' organizations
  7. Organizations that are not tax exempt under section 501(c)3 of the U. S. Internal Revenue Service Code
  8. Events that provide a non-charitable benefit to Bard

Application Requirements- Requests for funding must be in writing and include the following:

  1. Name, address, history, and mission of the organization
  2. Statement of need
  3. Project name and purpose for which the grant is requested and the amount requested
  4. Program's goals, objectives and budget
  5. A copy of the organization's IRS document indicating 501(c)3 status and confirmation that this status is still valid
  6. A copy of the organization's operating budget and its most recent audited financial statement
  7. A list of the organization's board of directors and trustees

Selection Process- The Contributions Committee of the Foundation meets quarterly to review grant applications. Unfortunately, the Foundation cannot fund all requests for support. Applicants will be informed of the status of their requests shortly after each Contributions Committee meeting. Contact- Requests for funding from the Foundation should be directed to:
